1980's Memory

I met Mr. Williams and his seventh grade daughter, Kim, as they marched into my classroom during teacher workdays. I was busily setting up my room for the beginning school year as they entered and began "taking inventory". I first thought this was an early parent visit so he could tell me how to best do my job for his little princess. He proved to me he was a loving parent looking for assurance that his child would receive a quality education in a nurturing environment. I got to know, respect, and appreciate Mr. and Mrs. Williams then and as Kim and I stayed in touch over the years. ( Kim became one of my favorite students of my career.) Mr. Williams never met a stranger and always made jokes to me. He honorably served his country while being faithful to God and striving to be a loving husband and virtuous father to his children. "Well done, good and faithful servant!" Matthew 25:23.
