Obituary for Samuel Fitzhugh

Samuel  Fitzhugh
Sam “The Candy Man” Fitzhugh, age 84, passed away, Thursday, November 19, 2015, at Diversicare of Dover. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at The Potter’s Hand Church, with Joe Page and Tim Cumby officiating. Burial will be in the Fitzhugh Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 pm on Saturday, November 21st, at Anglin Funeral Home, Dover, TN, and from 12:00 until the time of service on Sunday at The Potter’s Hand Church, 1546 Hwy 79 Dover, TN. Grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Anglin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born December 28, 1930, in Stewart County, TN, son of the late Bertis and Marie Fitzhugh. Mr. Fitzhugh drove a Stewart County School Bus for 16 years, he was a farmer, and also worked at Paris Landing State Park in the maintenance department. He was a devout Pentecostal.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Lee Fitzhugh, brothers, Harmon ‘Bear” Fitzhugh, Carl Fitzhugh, L.H. Fitzhugh, and Charlie Fitzhugh, sisters, Dorothy Redmon and Juanita Pulley.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Verlon Keel Fitzhugh, Dover, sons, Randall Fitzhugh (Vicki), Paris, TN, Don Fitzhugh (Tonya), Erin, TN, daughters, Brenda Davis (Richard), Clarksville, TN, Vanessa Wilfong (Mike), Dover, Denise Parker (Rickey), Dover, TN, brothers, Alrick ‘Buck’ Fitzhugh, Dover, TN, Bob Fitzhugh, Granite City, IL, sister, Naomi Gray, Dover, TN, nine grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
