Frances "Willie"  Griffith
Frances “Willie” Griffith, age 107 of Bumpus Mills, TN, passed away, Friday, November 4, 2016 at her home. She was born August 5, 1909 in Russellville, KY daughter of the late Jacob and Nancy Bilyeu Brady. Mrs. Griffith worked 25 years at Kroger in the Meat Department, she was the first female member of the Meat Cutter’s Union. She was very active in the community, with memberships at the Stewart County Senior Citizen Center, Stewart County Friends of the Public Library, Stewart County Historical Society, Tennessee Farm Bureau, AARP since 1981, and a founding father of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Riley Griffith, daughter, Felicia Gillman, brothers, Gordon Brady, Jake Brady, sisters, Louise Wood, Irene Fuqua, Elizabeth White and sons-in-law, Ed Miller, Bill Montgomery, Tommy Heath, Bill Billman, and Joe Gillman. She is survived by her son, Albert Griffith (Betty), Linden, TN, daughters, Frances Vierk (Duane) Merritt Island, FL, Florene Heath Billman, Bumpus Mills, TN, Sue Miller, San Antonio, TX, Judy Montgomery, Bumpus Mills, TN, brother, H.B. Brady, Louisville, KY, and 148 grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am Monday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father David Gaffney officiating. Interment will be at 1:30 pm at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Clarksville, TN. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 pm Sunday at Anglin Funeral Home, Praying the Rosary will begin at 6:00 pm. Family will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of memorials donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Stewart County Senior Citizen Center, or by doing a good deed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Anglin Funeral Home.
