Obituary for Shirley Raynor Zellers

Shirley Ray Raynor Zellers, age 72, of Erin, TN, passed away, Friday, July 5, 2013 at her residence. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday at Anglin Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Moore to officiate, burial will follow in the Moore Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 8:00 pm Monday at Anglin Funeral Home, and from 12:00 until the time of service Tuesday. She was born, July 13, 1940, in Cario, IL, daughter of the late Chester Carl Raynor and Frances Black Glasgow. At age 14 she made her first of many appearances on the Grand Ole Opry. She collaborated with Mel Tillis for her first single, "Why Don'tcha Come Home". Throughout her entertainment career she performed on the Opry stage with various country music artists. While headlining The Shirley Ray Show, she made appearances on the Hee Haw Show, the Ralph Emery Show, and the Carl Tipton Show. After retirement she made an appearance in the Ray Stevens "Mississippi Squirrel Revival" music video. Mrs. Zellers was a member of the Ft. Donelson Pentecostal Church, Ladies Auxiliary, VFW, Gold Star Wives, and a Senior Bowling League. She is preceded in death by her husband Lester 'Zeke' Zellers, brothers, Donald 'Peck' Raynor, and Charles 'Spike' Joiner, sisters, Beverly Tanner, Brenda Bellar, and Betty Myers. Survivors include her children, Mark Zellers, Dover, Pennie Byard, Erin, sisters, Mary Alice Izatt, Clarksville, Nadine Loris, Sacramento, CA, brothers, Benny Pulley, Elkton, KY, Bobby Pulley, Barry Pulley, Billy Dean Pulley, Tony Pulley, all of Dover, Glenn Raynor, Bobby Raynor, both of Sacramento, CA, five grandchildren , and six great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Mark Fienberg, Ben Mesner, John Turner, Terry Fitzhugh, Johnny Whitworth, and Mitchell Whitworth. Randy Kent will be an honorary pallbearer.
