Mrs. Carolyn Kay Shemwell, age 71, of Dover, TN, passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was born August 29, 1945 in Michigan, daughter of the late William and Parisea Lathum Zook. Mrs. Shemwell was a member of First Baptist Church of Dover where she sang in the choir and frequently volunteered. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Jim Shemwell, Dover, sons, James Shemwell, Jr., St. Louis, MO, Bob Brock, Jr. Logan, IL, grandson, Josh Brock, brothers, Billy Zook, Glen Allen, MO, Chalvus Zook, Wappaapello, MO, sisters, Delphia Houghland, Columbia, IL, Dathol Barksdale, Sikeston, MO, Linda Ivie, Sikeston, MO, Laverta Bonta, St. Louis, MO, and Brenda Watson, Poplar Bluff, MO.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, Elvon Zook, Dewey Zook, and Gary Zook.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Monday, July 3, 2017 at Anglin Funeral Home with Rev. George Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of service Monday at Anglin Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements have been entrusted to Anglin Funeral Home.
