Opal  Duncan Romkey (Smith)
Virginia Opal Duncan, age 88 of Dover, TN went to join the Lord, Monday, May 8, 2017 at Diversicare of Dover. The funeral service will be on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Anglin Funeral Home with Charlie Mathis and Bennie Mann officiating. Burial will follow in the Glasgow Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017 form 4-8:00 pm and on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 11:00am- 1:00pm at Anglin Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Manson, Wayne Smith, Gary Warfield, Charlie Warfield, David Smith and Mark Johnson.
She was born June 12, 1928 in Stewart County, TN daughter of the late Arthur and Lillie Glasgow Smith. Mrs. Duncan retired from Oshkosh B’ Gosh and was also a long time seamstress, dress maker, tailor and alteration specialist. She also loved gardening, flowering and quilting. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, L.B. Whitford, Clarence Duncan, Jr., (Dude), and Art Romkey, daughter, Charlotte Whitford Heins, brothers, John L. Smith, James B. Smith, sisters, Pauline Smith, Ella Warfield, and Dorothy Mae Smith. Survivors include her son, Art Duncan (Joyce), Dover, TN, brother, Otho Smith, Ashland City, TN, step son, David Romkey (Beth), Indian Mound, TN, step daughter, Heather Law, CA, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.
In lieu of other memorials, donations may be made to the Glasgow Cemetery maintenance fund c/o, Art Duncan or Ann Mann.
