Obituary for Eva Clark Byrd

Eva Clark Byrd, 87, of Bumpus Mills, TN passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Weatherford Mortuary from 6 – 8pm. Mrs. Byrd will be transported to Anglin Funeral Home in Dover, TN where the family will receive friends on Monday, May 8, 2017 from 11am – 1pm (CST). The funeral will begin at 1pm and burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Indian Mound, TN.

Eva was born on Dec 24, 1929 in Bumpus Mills, TN and was daughter of the late Wayne and Ida Hargis Clark. She graduated from Austin Peay State University and received her degree in Education. During that time, she began dating Billy L. Byrd of Indian Mound, TN after a social dance at Dunbar Cave and they were married on November 28, 1952. Eva and Bill moved to Oak Ridge, TN in the mid-1950s, where they raised their two beloved children, Barry and Suzanne, and Eva taught both grade school and bible classes until her retirement at age 65. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and found much joy in her family and her worship. Eva and Bill are long term members of the New York Avenue Church of Christ in Oak Ridge, TN.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Byrd is preceded in death by her brothers, Hargis F. Clark, Horace W. Clark and sisters, Virginia Clark and Birdie Wallace. Survivors include her husband, Bill Byrd; brother, Sidney D. Clark of Bumpus Mills; sister, Alene Johnson of Bushnell, FL; son, Barry A. Byrd of Knoxville, TN; and daughter, Suzanne Byrd of Richmond, KY. Other survivors include grandchildren, Sarah Byrd Darby of Nashville, TN; Rachael Byrd Scates of Knoxville; Ryan Clark Byrd of Knoxville; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
